Burns & Burlesque - The Fundraising Begins!
Finally, we're off!
After many weeks of organisation, we finally hosted our first fundraising event last Friday at the Royal Scots Club, Edinburgh. A fantastic venue meant that everything we planned went off (almost!) without a hitch. From the smiling faces around the room it seemed that all present had a cracking time.
After the intros had been taken care of, Iain Spiers got all in the mood for food and Burns with the piping in of the Haggis. Ross McSkimming then gave us a fantastically theatrical address to the Haggis, complete with dramatic pauses...

Haggis consumed, all were treated to Stephen Acheson's Immortal Memory followed by dessert. The real fun part of the night kicked off with James Aird Toasting the Lassies, before Claire Marshall replied in kind to the Laddies.
Throughout the evening Derek Quinn treated the audience to a selection of Burns songs, wonderfully delivered to a very appreciative audience. He warmed the room up in time for the 'headline act', Burlesque performer, 'Daiquiri Dusk'.

She had (at least half) the audience spellbound with her first number, before returning later with a Burns-inspired routine to almost round off the night. Special mention at this point to Jason Dawes for entertaining the ladies in between Burlesque numbers.
For all photos of the night, click on the title at the top of the post.
The total raised on the night has yet to be finalised, but details to follow shortly.
